Raise your glass to P!nk for her seventh studio album “Beautiful Trauma”! It’s the first album she’s released in five years. Of course, it can’t be compared to her pre-2013 prolificacy, but she hasn’t been completely silent since her last album “Truth about Love” in 2012.
In 2016, she recorded the single “Just like Fire” for the “Alice Through the Looking Glass” soundtrack, which reached No. 1 in Adult Contemporary radio airplay chart, tenth in the Billboard Hot 100 and was at the top of multiple countries’ singles charts.*
In July 2016, the country music artist Kenny Chesney released “Setting the World on Fire”, the second single of his “Cosmic Hallelujah” album. The song featured P!nk and was nominated for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the Grammy Awards in 2017. The song was P!nk's first appearance on Billboard's country charts and reached No.1.**
On March 10, 2017, the Norwegian record producing and songwriting team Stargate released their debut single “Waterfall”, which also featured P!nk.

Her last release before her new album “Beautiful Trauma”, was its lead single “What About Us”. It reached the top 10 in several European countries and peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. Shortly after the release of the single came the announcement that on October 13 we would finally be getting her long-awaited seventh studio album.
Her new album has followed similar file sharing trends as her September 13, 2012, studio album release, “The Truth about Love”. The 2012 album originally had a different release date, but it was changed because the lead and second singles were leaked in the months and weeks before the official schedule. Soon after, P!nk uploaded five lyric videos from the album, on September 12.***.
Beginning in mid-August, the number of daily file sharers of P!nk music files started to slowly increase, and was at 8,100 per day on September 11, still a relatively low level compared to what was to come. Within two days of the album release, the number of P2P users who decided to download music of P!nk had increased by five times. Between September 11, 2012, and January 13, 2013, 3.5 million file sharers had downloaded music files of the pop-rock singer.
After January 13, the P2P activity dropped. In total, the sum of daily file sharers of P!nk per year steadily decreased from 5.1 million in 2013, to 1.1 million in 2014 and hit a low of 419,200 in 2015. In 2016, numbers started to increase and went back up to 1.3 million.
Once P!nk dropped her “Beautiful Trauma”, just like with her last album release, the number of daily file sharers for her music increased by five times: from 6,100 on October 11, to 30,300 on October 13. The first torrents of the album were already available on P2P networks on October 12, one day before the official release. Interestingly, the highest number of P2P users to download music from P!nk are from the United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Australia and Canada.
So let’s see what happens as word gets out about this album. We’re particularly interested to see how her fans respond to the song “Revenge” featuring Eminem – who knew she was angling to add a rap Grammy to her collection of trophies? Then again, P!nk’s always looking for a reason to get the party started, no matter what the genre.
